Declaration on Data Protection
The City of Nuremberg websites may be accessed via the domains http://www.nuernberg.de and http://www.nuremberg.de as well as via various sub-domains of either domain. All services offered on those websites were created in accordance with legally prescribed data protection requirements. The declaration on data protection presented explains our method of safeguarding data security.
What do we do in order to conform to data protection requirements.
1. Whenever you surf on the web, you transmit data
Whenever you surf on the internet, you transmit data to the provider of the pages you called up via your internet browser. This is, of course, also the case whenever you call up pages provided by the City of Nuremberg.
During your visit on our website, the following data are automatically stored:
- complete IP address of the computer requesting access
- date and time of request
- method of access / function requested by requesting computer
- input values transmitted by computer requesting access
- name of file requested
- URL from where the file was requested / the desired function was started
- information about browsers and operating systems used.
These data are evaluated in anonymous form only, and exclusively for internal statistics purposes. All data collected are deleted completely at regular intervals. The evaluated data are not passed on to third parties or used for other purposes.
2. You may register your email address in our visitors' book, on a voluntary basis.
Visitors may enter their email address in the City of Nuremberg's online visitors' book on a voluntary basis. Anyone wanting to criticise the City of Nuremberg or its representatives may not do this in anonymous for, but must state his/her name and email address so that he/she may receive a direct answer. Email addresses entered this way will be made public. Publicising the email address in connection with the corresponding entry in the visitors' book is intended to give readers and other writers in the visitors' book an opportunity to contact the writer directly. This is standard internet practice. Any entries in the visitors' book will be checked by the editorial board, put on the website and automatically deleted after six months. Upon request, entries in the visitors' book or email addresses may be deleted at any earlier time. Editorial contacts are listed under the heading "Impressum".
3. Use of Links
The City of Nuremberg online services provide links, i.e. access to external internet services. These external services are located in separate domains and on separate outside servers, and their content is the exclusive responsibility of the respective service provider(s).
Via the links mentioned above, the municipal online office facilitates the use of external content, in accordance with § 9 Teledienstegesetz (legislation on tele-services). The responsibility for those "alien" contents does not lie with the City of Nuremberg Online Office, but with the respective service provider of the linked service. The process of calling up the linked domain, i.e. the transmission of the information published in the respective domain, is not a process initiated by the City of Nuremberg. The City of Nuremberg does not select or change contents in those domains either. The City of Nuremberg does not have any influence on who finally calls up the linked external internet services.
The call-up and linking methods chosen by the municipal Online Office do not generate any automatic short-term intermediate storage of this "alien information". so that thus no responsibility results for the Online Office either.
Before links are included on municipal internet pages we check whether external content could lead to any possible civil or criminal legal responsibility.
4. Use of Cookies
The City of Nuremberg does not use cookies on principle. If any tele-services involve the use of cookies, this is explicitly mentioned in the respective services.
5. Electronic Services
The City of Nuremberg provides various interactive applications and forms. Unless there is a separate declaration on data protection, the present explanations apply.
- Some of the applications transmit data to various municipal departments in encoded form. Type of encoding, data collected and purpose of data storage are pointed out in the context of the respective application, in specific declarations on data protection concerning the various processes.
- www.nuernberg.de on principle does not use any Active X Controls. In some applications, Active X Control is necessary for representation purposes. If this is the case, it will be pointed out explicitly.
- We would like to point out that data transmission via the internet is not a secure form of data transmission, and that transmitted data could therefore be perused or falsified by unauthorized persons, unless they were encoded.
6. Transmission of Data Via E-Mail
Whenever you send an e-mail to one of the City of Nuremberg's departments, your mail address will be used exclusively for the purpose of correspondence with you. As soon as they are no longer required for the tasks within the competence of the respective municipal department, e-mails will be deleted.
Presently (May 2006) the City of Nuremberg is in the process of introducing encoded mail transmission.
7. Personal Data in Forms
The following general principle applies: no personal data collected via forms are transmitted anywhere else, and those data are only used for the process in question. They will be deleted as soon as they are no longer necessary for the fulfillment of tasks within the competence of the respective municipal department.
This does not apply, whenever the City of Nuremberg is legally obliged to surrender data.
The following categories may be distinguished on forms provided on the City of Nuremberg's internet pages:
- Interactive applications with encoded data transmission (e.g. online application for collection of bulky refuse)
In interactive applications, encoded data are transmitted to the respective departments carrying out the tasks. Type of encoding, data collected, and purpose of data storage are pointed out in the context of the application, in specific declarations on data protection concerning the respective process.
- Simple forms provided (e.g. contact forms)
Whenever you use these services, the conditions outlined above in the section "E-Mail" apply.
- Download of Forms (e.g. PDF forms)
In the case of personal data which are subject to data protection, the City of Nuremberg provides electronic forms for entering those data in PDF format only. These forms cannot be filled in online and transmitted via the internet, but must be printed out, signed personally and then posted to the respective municipal department.
8. Commitment of Municipal Staff to Data Protection
City of Nuremberg staff are bound to secrecy and to observing the relevant legal requirements of data protection.
9. Updating the Data Protection Statement
We reserve the right to change this data protection statement at any given time, always in keeping with legal requirements.
